ReplyDeleteWhat a good activity! It has listening and vocabulary to learn, and it is not just about ESL (it is a good activity for ESL), but it reaches beyond. As teachers we do not just teaching English, we are building little persons, so the fact of learning manners and habits to be polite is a really good idea. Pupils will practice their English skills and imrpoving the way they conduct theirselves at the same time, and it can be good for the classroom environment.

ReplyDeleteI like the activity that you propose. I really miss this kind of tasks, we should definitely do it more often in order to promote the development of social approaches. Sometimes, we are very focus on the creation of activities that only reach a pure academic purposes. The one that you designed, it contains important values such as be polite and grateful with little things that can occur in a daily routine. Congratulations!

Hello David! I really like your blog. You have included not just activities to improve oral and written skills, but also others ones to work on cross-curricular contents such as knowing our planet and how to save energy as a transversal element. In my opinion, these contents are also essential to acquire the foreign language.
ReplyDeleteRegarding this activity about manners, it is really interesting, since we should promote socialization among learners, as it is an essential part of communication. Therefore, we should teach them about basic greetings such as - Hello, Good morning; offering and thanking; - Can I help you? - Thank you very much; apologising; -I'm terribly sorry.
-Sorry about that. The aim is teaching students how use the English language correctly and appropiately for real purposes.
